Study Goal: This study aims to help people in jail who struggle with drug use by connecting them to a virtual Peer Recovery Coach (PRC). A peer recovery coach is someone with experience in recovering from addiction who helps others by providing motivation and support through video calls.
Participation Details:
- Length: Participants will be followed for one year.
- Visits: Participants will complete assessments and may receive either regular treatment or virtual PRC support.
- Risks: No specific risks are mentioned, but participants need to be willing to follow study procedures and complete follow-up calls.
Eligibility: Participants must be in a participating jail, speak English, have a certain level of drug-related issues, and be willing to follow study procedures. They cannot join if they have cognitive impairments, have participated before, or are being transferred out of Georgia.
The study will see if PRCs help people engage with addiction treatment and improve their overall well-being. The findings will help decide if virtual PRC services should be used more widely in jails and other high-risk places.
