The study is testing a vaccine called Shingrix that protects against shingles, especially in people with kidney problems waiting for a transplant. Shingles is a painful skin rash caused by the same virus as chickenpox. The study will check if the vaccine works well and is safe for kidney patients, even after they get a transplant. It will also see if an extra shot of the vaccine after a transplant helps more. Participants will have 3 to 6 visits over about 3 years, and they may need to give blood or urine samples. They will either get two doses of the vaccine or be part of a comparison if they received the vaccine before joining the study.
- Study lasts about 30 to 37 months with 3 to 6 visits.
- Participants may receive 2 or 3 doses of the vaccine.
- Participants will answer questions and give samples for research.
People aged 18-70 with kidney failure, waiting for a transplant are eligible. Those with certain conditions or travel limitations might not qualify. The study aims to help find better ways to protect kidney patients from shingles.
