Peer Influences in Alcohol and Sexual Violence Among Marines Dyads

Studying alcohol and sexual violence effects among Marines.

Recruiting
21 years and older
Male
Phase N/A

This study is about understanding how Marines influence each other when it comes to alcohol and sexual violence. **Alcohol-involved Sexual Violence Perpetration (ASVP)** means unwanted sexual acts that happen when someone is drunk. The study will look at how Marines who drink together might affect each other's behavior. **Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA)** is a method to collect data in real-time using a phone or device.

Key Points:

  • The study lasts for 14 days, with participants needing to complete assessments twice a day.
  • It involves one individual orientation session and one group session using video calls.
  • Participation happens during off-duty time, so it won't interfere with military duties.

To join, you must be a male Marine, 21 or older, and have drunk heavily with your partner at least twice recently. The study aims to see how Marines' drinking and peer influence relate to risky behaviors. Participation helps researchers understand and possibly reduce these behaviors in the future.
