Phase 2

Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) is a serious mood condition that makes people feel very sad and lose interest in activities they used to enjoy. People with MDD might feel tired, have trouble concentrating, and experience changes in eating habits. This study looks at a new drug called Icalcaprant, which is being tested to see if it can help people with MDD feel better during a major depressive episode (MDE).

In the study, participants will be divided into three groups, and there is a chance that some will receive a placebo (a pill with no active medicine). About 195 adults will participate in the study across 35 locations in North America. Participants will take an oral pill daily for 6 weeks and have a 30-day follow-up period to check for any side effects.

  • Study duration is 6 weeks with additional follow-up.
  • Participants must attend regular check-ups at a clinic.
  • There is a chance of receiving a placebo instead of the actual drug.
