BOOST3 Study is a research project focused on helping people with a severe traumatic brain injury (TBI). TBI happens when the brain is hurt, like in a bad fall or car crash. After this injury, the brain might swell and cause dangerous pressure inside the skull. To help, doctors use two tools: ICP monitor measures skull pressure, and PbtO2 monitor checks brain oxygen levels. Both tools guide doctors in deciding treatments like medications and fluids.
There are two groups in the study. One group uses both monitors to guide treatment, while the other uses only the ICP monitor. The study aims to see which method is safer and more effective. Participants will be monitored for 6 months to see how well they recover.
- Participants need to be adults (14+ years) with a severe TBI.
- Study lasts 6 months with follow-up interviews.
- There are some risks and potential side effects involved.
