Study Purpose: This study tests a new medicine, NBI-1065845, to see if it helps people with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) feel better when added to their current medicine. A placebo, which looks like a real medicine but isn’t, is used to compare the effects.

Who Can Join: People with MDD who haven't responded well to their current depression pills can join. They must continue taking their current pills for at least 8 weeks and score high on a test called the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAM-D17). People with other main psychiatric issues or high risk of harming themselves or others cannot join.

  • **Study Duration:** Participants will need to take part in the study for the entire duration set by the researchers.
  • **Compensation:** Some form of compensation may be provided for participating in the study.
  • **Risks:** Participants may experience side effects or no improvement in symptoms.

This study aims to find better ways to help people with depression who haven't felt better with usual treatments.
