Dysphagia is when someone has trouble swallowing. This study uses a special microphone patch to listen to the sounds of swallowing and find patterns of abnormal swallowing. This patch is not invasive, meaning it doesn’t go inside the body. It sticks to the chin to listen to muscle movements during a swallowing test called VFSS, where you swallow a barium liquid to see how your throat works. The study is done at Emory University Hospital for people aged 40-85, mainly those who have had a stroke.
- **Participation involves:** One visit for the VFSS test at the hospital.
- **Risks and Discomforts:** The patch is non-invasive, so there are minimal risks.
- **Compensation:** Information about any compensation will be provided during the study explanation.
**Eligibility:** To join, you must be between 40-85 years old, have or be suspected to have had a stroke, and are scheduled for a VFSS test. You cannot join if you have a BMI over 35 or a history of head and neck cancer treatments.
