Study Summary: This study is testing a drug called SNG001 for patients who need help breathing with machines due to viral lung infections. The study aims to find out if SNG001 is safe and if it can help patients recover faster than the usual treatment.
The study has two parts. In Part 1, only patients 50 years or older will be treated with either SNG001 or a placebo (a substance with no active drug) for up to 14 days in the hospital. In Part 2, patients aged 18 to 50 with weakened immune systems and patients over 50 will receive SNG001 for the same duration. The study will check if SNG001 helps clear the virus and reduce death rates.
- Participation involves being in the hospital and taking the study drug for up to 14 days.
- Participants must be on a ventilator due to a viral infection and meet specific health criteria.
- Participation is voluntary, and patients can leave the study at any time.
