Assessing Improvements in Mood and Sleep Trial is a study for people aged 55 and older who have depression and other signs of suicide risk. The goal is to find out which of two methods works best to help with sleep, mood, and suicidality. Participants will be part of an 8-week program, meeting with a therapist weekly for 30-50 minutes. They will also wear an actigraphy watch, which looks like a wristwatch and tracks sleep and activity, for one week at a time during key visits. Participants will answer questions over the phone weekly during the program. The study takes place at three sites in the US: University of Pittsburgh, UCLA, and Augusta.
  • Duration: 8-week program with follow-ups.
  • Visits: Three main study visits, with phone check-ins.
  • Eligibility: Must be 55+, have depression, and meet specific criteria.
Participants will not know all details of the programs to maintain the study's integrity. This trial will help researchers learn more about improving sleep and mood in older adults.
