This study is for people aged 55 and older who are feeling depressed and have either thought about suicide or attempted it in the past. The goal is to see which of two methods helps improve sleep and mood. Participants will visit once before, right after, and six months after an 8-week program. They will wear an actigraphy watch, a device like a wristwatch that tracks sleep and activity, while keeping a sleep diary. During the 8-week program, participants will meet weekly with a therapist for 30-50 minutes and answer weekly phone questions for about 30-40 minutes. The study takes place at three sites, including the University of Pittsburgh, UCLA, and Augusta.

Eligibility requires a depression score of 10 or higher and sleep issues. Exclusion includes active suicide plans, bipolar disorder, or substance abuse. Participants should not be in active therapy or have certain health conditions. The study aims to find what helps best with mood and sleep.
