Phase 2

This study is testing a new medication, MET097, for weight loss in people who are overweight or have obesity. Obesity means having a lot of body fat that might be unhealthy. The study will help us understand if the medicine is safe and how well it works. Participants will take the medicine once a week for 12 weeks, then once a month for another 13 months. There will also be a comparison with a placebo, which is a pill that doesn't have any medicine in it. This study is randomized, meaning participants are randomly chosen for either the medicine or placebo group, and double-blind, meaning neither participants nor researchers know who is getting the actual medicine. To join, you should not have diabetes, and your BMI, a measure of body fat based on height and weight, should be between 27 and 50. The primary outcome will be measured after 28 weeks. You should be willing to follow the study plan and attend all visits.

  • Study lasts about 28 weeks with weekly and monthly doses.
  • Participants must not have diabetes and meet BMI criteria.
  • Safety checks continue after the last dose for several months.
