Parent Toolkit 2.0 is a program to help parents and caregivers of middle and high school students in Georgia. It aims to improve communication about health and relationships, focusing on topics like sexual health. The program includes an online Parent Guide with information and resources, four videos showing how to talk with teens, and two group sessions for parents to practice skills. It's a randomized control trial (RCT), meaning participants are randomly chosen to try the program or not, helping researchers evaluate its effectiveness.
- Program lasts three weeks, with group sessions and surveys.
- Participating parents may receive resources and attend group sessions.
- Surveys are required immediately after and 9 months post-program.
The study involves 1,000 parent-teen pairs. Parents or caregivers should be 25-70 years old, live in certain Georgia areas, and be the main caregiver for a 12-15-year-old. They will get the toolkit, videos, and join group sessions. Teens won't actively participate in sessions but will complete surveys. To join, parents and teens must meet specific criteria, like having their own email or phone. This study helps understand how better parent-teen communication can lead to healthier choices among youth.
