This study is looking to help veterans with two conditions: PTSD (Posttraumatic Stress Disorder) and SUD (Substance Use Disorder). PTSD can happen after scary events, and SUD means having a hard time stopping drug or alcohol use. The study will compare two ways of doing a special talk therapy called Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE). Instead of once a week, some will have Massed PE (M-PE) which means several times a week. The goal is to see which way helps more with symptoms and sticking to treatment. 200 veterans who served after 9/11 will be part of this study across four VA locations. The study will last four years.
- Time Commitment: Requires multiple therapy sessions each week.
- Locations: Taking place in San Diego, Tampa, Chicago, and Atlanta.
- Eligibility: Open to veterans with PTSD and SUD who meet specific criteria.
