Project UPLIFT is a program designed to help people with epilepsy feel better by teaching them skills to manage their thoughts and behaviors. It uses Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which is a type of talk therapy that helps people change negative thinking patterns and behaviors. This program lasts for 8 weeks with sessions held once a week. Epilepsy affects the brain, causing seizures that can be sudden and unpredictable, impacting physical and emotional well-being. The program aims to help participants deal with challenges like depression and social isolation. It also addresses the high costs associated with epilepsy care.
For this study, anyone 18 or older with epilepsy who can speak English and has access to a phone or computer can participate. The study will measure how the program improves well-being and reduces costs. Participants will have follow-up checks for up to 6 months after the sessions end.
- Duration: 8 weeks of weekly sessions
- Eligibility: Adults with epilepsy, English-speaking, phone/computer access
- Outcome: Improved mental health and lower costs
