This research is being conducted to see how well a new medicine called etavopivat helps people with sickle cell disease. Sickle cell disease is when your blood cells are shaped like sickles, which can block blood flow and cause pain. The study wants to find out if etavopivat can reduce these pain crises and help with organ health, exercise, and tiredness. Participants will receive either etavopivat or a placebo, which is like a pretend medicine. The study lasts about 2 years.
