The STOP PEDS study is a research project that looks at how antibiotics help treat lung flares, called pulmonary exacerbations (PEx), in children with Cystic Fibrosis (CF). CF is a disease that affects the lungs and digestive system. This study is comparing two ways to use antibiotics for these flares: one starts antibiotics right away, and the other waits to see if symptoms get worse before starting them. The study will follow kids aged 3 to 18 for one year. There are three groups based on age and treatment type, like Highly Effective Modulator Therapy (HEMT), which is a special medicine for CF patients.
Participants can join extra substudies, like throat swabs at clinic or home, or using devices to track lung health and sleep at home.
**Key Points:**- Participants will be followed for 12 months and may need to visit clinics for tests.
- There are no immediate compensation details, but participation may help improve CF treatment.
- There might be risks like side effects from antibiotics.
