Phase N/A

This study tests the Optune device for kids with two types of brain tumors: High-Grade Glioma (HGG) and Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). The Optune System creates electric fields that can stop tumor growth. In Stratum 1, the study checks if the device can be used safely for kids with HGG or ependymoma. In Stratum 2, it combines Optune with Radiation Therapy (RT) to see if it helps children with DIPG.

  • Kids must wear the Optune for at least 18 hours a day.
  • The study can last up to 5 years, with regular checkups.
  • Patients must have certain health conditions that allow them to participate safely.

Eligible kids for Stratum 1 are between 5-21 years, while Stratum 2 includes ages 3-21. This study involves frequent hospital visits and requires the head to be shaved for device use. Participants must not have certain medical devices or conditions that interfere with Optune. Parents or guardians must consent to the study, and participants must be willing to follow instructions carefully. The device may cause side effects, and its effectiveness varies.

Learn more about clinical trials

What is a clinical trial?

A clinical trial is a study designed to test specific interventions or treatments' effectiveness and safety, paving the way for new, innovative healthcare solutions.

Why should I take part in a clinical trial?

Participating in a clinical trial provides early access to potentially effective treatments and directly contributes to the healthcare advancements that benefit us all.

How long does a clinical trial take place?

The duration of clinical trials varies. Some trials last weeks, some years, depending on the phase and intention of the trial.

Do I get compensated for taking part in clinical trials?

Compensation varies per trial. Some offer payment or reimbursement for time and travel, while others may not.

How safe are clinical trials?
