This study aims to create a program to help Black transgender women manage stress and stigma, which are negative attitudes from others. Stigma can cause psychological distress, like feeling sad or worried. The program will include weekly group sessions led by both a community member and a health nurse, and additional learning materials accessible through an online app. Social resources will also be available online. The study will use feedback from participants to make improvements.
- The study lasts for several months with both in-person and online sessions.
- Participants will need to complete surveys at different times during the study.
- Participants cannot be in any mental health treatment during the study.
To be eligible, participants must be 18 or older, identify as a woman or transgender woman, have been assigned male at birth, and speak English. The study will exclude those receiving mental health treatment. Participants will be recruited through flyers and social media, with some sessions conducted virtually.
