The study explores the use of the RNS System to help treat seizures in people with Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome (LGS). LGS is a severe form of epilepsy that doesn’t respond well to medicine. The RNS System involves a device that is surgically implanted in the brain to monitor and respond to seizure activity. This study will enroll 20 participants who will undergo six study periods: Baseline, Implant, Post-Op, Blinded Evaluation, Open Label, and Long Term Follow-Up. During the Blinded Evaluation, participants will receive different types of brain stimulation without knowing which type they are receiving. Afterward, they will receive open treatment for a year, followed by up to two more years of follow-up.
- The study requires surgery to implant the device.
- Participants must be at least 12 years old and have uncontrolled seizures despite medication.
- Participants will need to attend regular appointments over several years.
