The CHILD Trial is studying a serious heart condition called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). HLHS means the left side of the heart is not developed properly. The study looks at the safety of a special cell treatment during a heart surgery called the Stage II BDCPA operation. The cells, called autologous c-kit+ cells, are from the patient's own body and are injected into the heart muscle. The study checks if this helps with heart function and other health aspects.
- The study is only for children who have had the Stage I Norwood operation for HLHS.
- Children cannot join if they need heart support machines close to the Stage II surgery or if their parent cannot follow up properly.
- There may be risks, and parents should discuss with doctors if considering participation.
Please note, the study involves evaluating heart health after the procedure, and it might include hospital visits for follow-up checks. It's important to carefully consider if this study is right for your child. If interested, discuss with your healthcare provider.
