Study on Communication in Immunotherapy Discussions

This study looks at how patients and doctors talk about immunotherapy. Immunotherapy is a type of treatment that helps the body's immune system fight cancer. The study aims to understand where patients learn about immunotherapy and what they know about it. It also checks how doctors explain it and if videos can help patients understand better.

Primary Objectives:

1. Find out if patients have mistaken ideas about immunotherapy from media or other sources, and if these ideas change after talking with their doctor.

2. Understand what patients find confusing and see if they understand the technical language used in discussions.

3. Learn what information both patients and doctors think is important to share about immunotherapy.

4. Create and test videos to see if they help patients understand immunotherapy better.

  • Participants will be observed during a conversation about immunotherapy, followed by a 20-minute interview.
  • Eligibility: Patients and doctors who discuss immunotherapy at the Winship Cancer Institute, and any cancer patient for video testing.
  • There are no specific treatments or significant risks involved.
