Phase N/A

This study is about a new tool called **MuSICCA** that helps doctors understand a child's level of awareness when they have a condition called Prolonged Disorders Of Consciousness (PDOC). PDOC includes conditions where a person is either in a **Vegetative State (VS)**, a state where someone is awake but not aware, or a **Minimally Conscious State (MCS)**, where they show slight awareness, for more than four weeks. The study involves kids aged 2-18 who might have PDOC. The goal is to see if MuSICCA is as accurate and useful for children as a similar tool is for adults. Families of participants need to give consent. Over three years, each child will have up to seven assessment sessions, involving different scales. The sessions will use music in different ways to see how the child responds. All sessions will be recorded and analyzed to help with diagnosis and treatment.

  • Study lasts 3 years and includes up to 7 sessions per child.
  • Participants are aged 2-18 suspected of having PDOC.
  • Consent from parents or carers is required to participate.
