Phase N/A

Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) is a problem with the heart's structure present at birth. Some children with CHD also have Heart Failure (HF), where the heart doesn't pump blood as well as it should. This study looks at using 3D printed heart models for kids needing a Ventricular Assist Device (VAD), a machine that helps the heart pump blood. The study will see if using these models helps doctors plan surgeries better, leading to better outcomes for patients. A VAD is important for kids with CHD and HF because it can help them live longer. The study will compare those who use the 3D model to those who don't, to see which group does better.

  • Study involves kids over 3 kg with CHD and HF.
  • Some kids won't be part of the study if they can't have certain heart scans.
  • Study takes place at multiple centers and involves comparing two groups.

Learn more about clinical trials

What is a clinical trial?

A clinical trial is a study designed to test specific interventions or treatments' effectiveness and safety, paving the way for new, innovative healthcare solutions.

Why should I take part in a clinical trial?

Participating in a clinical trial provides early access to potentially effective treatments and directly contributes to the healthcare advancements that benefit us all.

How long does a clinical trial take place?

The duration of clinical trials varies. Some trials last weeks, some years, depending on the phase and intention of the trial.

Do I get compensated for taking part in clinical trials?

Compensation varies per trial. Some offer payment or reimbursement for time and travel, while others may not.

How safe are clinical trials?
