Shear Wave Elastography (SWE) is a special ultrasound technique used to study tendons. Tendons are the tough bands of tissue that connect muscles to bones. This study aims to understand how normal (asymptomatic) tendons differ from those causing pain (symptomatic). It will also look at how well tendons heal after standard treatments.
Tendinopathy is when tendons are painful and damaged. It often happens in athletes and can cause pain and limit movement. The study includes two parts: first, comparing healthy and painful tendons in people with long-term tendon problems. Second, using ultrasound to see how tendons heal over time.
- The study will observe 150 people, 75 with and 75 without tendon pain.
- No treatment is given, just observation using ultrasound.
- Participants must not be pregnant, and certain medical histories exclude participation.
These insights could help us understand how tendons heal and improve treatments in the future. If you have lower limb pain or confirmed tendinopathy, you might be eligible to participate.
