Phase 3

Study Objective: This research is testing if a new medicine, called anifrolumab, is safe and works well for adults with moderate to severe Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE). SLE is a disease where the body's defense system attacks its own cells. The medicine is given under the skin, like a shot.

Study Details: This study will compare anifrolumab to a placebo (a fake treatment) to see which works better. It will include 360 adults aged 18 to 70. They will receive either the new medicine or placebo once a week for 52 weeks. After that, they can continue and receive the real medicine for another 52 weeks. Participants must already be on standard treatments like glucocorticoids (a type of steroid), antimalarials, or immunosuppressants.

  • The study lasts for up to 104 weeks (2 years).
  • Participants will have regular check-ups and must stay on current treatments.
  • Some health conditions may prevent you from joining, like severe kidney or brain issues.
