Caregiving While Black is a study aimed at helping Black American caregivers who take care of family or friends with dementia. Dementia is a condition that affects memory and thinking. The study involves an online course to improve caregiving skills. To be part of this study, you must be a Black American caregiver providing hands-on care several times a week to a person with dementia. You need to be 18 or older and have internet access. The study lasts 6 months and includes interviews and surveys.

Key Points:

  • The study lasts 6 months with several check-ins.
  • Participants should not have plans to move their care recipient to an institution soon.
  • Internet access is required to participate in the online course.

Caregivers will be divided into two groups: one will start the course immediately, and the other will wait three months. The goal is to see if the course helps caregivers feel more skilled and less stressed. This project aims to make the course widely available to support Black caregivers facing challenges due to structural racism.
