DEFIANCE Study is a research project comparing two treatments for a blood clot condition called deep vein thrombosis (DVT). DVT happens when a blood clot forms in a deep vein, usually in your leg. This study is looking at two ways to treat DVT in one leg: the ClotTriever System, a tool used to remove clots and keep veins clear, versus anticoagulation therapy, which involves taking medicine to prevent clots from growing or forming. Up to 300 adults will participate, and the study will last about six months.
- Participants will be randomly assigned to one of the two treatment groups.
- You'll need to attend follow-up visits during the study.
- If eligible, you will sign a consent form to join.
To join, you must be at least 18 years old and have a specific type of DVT with symptoms that started within 12 weeks. Some conditions, like having clots in both legs or certain allergies, would prevent participation. The study will monitor participants' health outcomes and collect data to see which treatment works better.
