This study looks at two ways to make teeth appear longer, called Esthetic Crown Lengthening. One way uses a tool called piezoelectric (PZ), which is a special device that cuts bone without harming soft tissues. The other way is the traditional method called the Open Flap Approach (OF), which involves lifting the gums to reshape the bone. This study aims to see which method works better and feels more comfortable for patients.

Some people show too much gum when they smile, known as Altered Passive Eruption (APE). The study compares how well both methods fix this issue. The PZ method is less invasive, meaning it might hurt less and heal faster. However, it needs careful handling to avoid mistakes. The OF method is more common but might cause the gums to shift after surgery.

  • The study requires visits for surgery and follow-ups.
  • Participants must have a gummy smile due to APE and healthy gums.
  • People who smoke or have certain health conditions cannot join.

Why should I take part in a clinical trial?

Participating in a clinical trial provides early access to potentially effective treatments and directly contributes to the healthcare advancements that benefit us all.

How long does a clinical trial take place?

The duration of clinical trials varies. Some trials last weeks, some years, depending on the phase and intention of the trial.

Do I get compensated for taking part in clinical trials?

Compensation varies per trial. Some offer payment or reimbursement for time and travel, while others may not.

How safe are clinical trials?
