The study aims to see if a medicine called brivaracetam is safe and works well for kids and young adults (ages 2-25) with certain types of epilepsy, called childhood absence epilepsy (CAE) or juvenile absence epilepsy (JAE). Epilepsy is a condition that affects the brain and can cause seizures, which are sudden bursts of electrical activity in the brain. In this study, participants must not have been treated with more than two epilepsy medicines before and must show certain patterns in brain tests (EEG). They will take brivaracetam as the only treatment (monotherapy) and be monitored for safety and effectiveness.
- The study will involve several visits to the clinic.
- Participants must be between 2 and 25 years old and meet specific health criteria.
- Study participation might include compensation for time and travel.
People who have other types of seizures, certain health conditions, or are taking certain medications cannot participate. The study also requires consent from participants or their guardians. This research helps find better treatments for epilepsy to improve the quality of life for those affected.
