This study is about helping people with **substance use disorders (SUD)**, which is when someone can't control their use of drugs or alcohol. It looks at linking people to **peer recovery coaches (PRC)**, who are individuals that help others get better. Participants will be placed in one of three groups: in-person coaching, telemedicine (video call) coaching, or usual care without coaching.
In the coaching groups, a PRC will talk to participants and help them find community recovery resources. They'll also check in after participants leave the hospital to offer more help. Follow-ups are at 7, 30, and 90 days, mostly by phone.
- Study involves three groups: in-person, video call, or no coaching.
- Participants will have follow-up visits at 7, 30, and 90 days.
- Eligibility: 18+, English-speaking, and meet specific criteria for drug use issues.
This study is important because it uses new ways, like telemedicine, to help people recover and could help other hospitals set up similar programs.
