This study is looking at how a drug called **bromocriptine** affects women with a heart condition called **peripartum cardiomyopathy (PPCM)**, which can happen after giving birth. **Bromocriptine** is a medicine that can help the heart recover, but it also stops breastfeeding. The study will have two groups: 200 women who take bromocriptine or a fake pill (placebo) and 50 women who choose to keep breastfeeding without taking bromocriptine. The heart function will be checked with a test called an echocardiogram at the start, six months, and twelve months later.
- The study lasts up to 3 years with regular heart checks.
- Women taking bromocriptine will also need another medicine to prevent blood clots.
- Women who want to breastfeed can't take bromocriptine but can still join a separate group for observation.
