Study Overview: This research aims to see if using a special type of ultrasound, called Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS), can improve heart procedures. IVUS is a tool that helps doctors see inside blood vessels to choose the best stent (a small tube that keeps blood vessels open) for patients with complex heart conditions. This method might help prevent future heart problems and save money.

Research Details: The study will compare two groups of patients: those getting IVUS-guided stent placement and those with regular guidance, called angiography. It will be done at 120 centers in the US, Canada, and Europe, involving around 2,500 to 3,100 participants. Each participant will be followed for two years, and the entire study will take about 4.5 years.

Key Points:

  • Participation involves a 2-year follow-up.
  • Around 120 centers will be part of this study.
  • Participants should be at least 18 years old with specific heart conditions.

Learn more about clinical trials

What is a clinical trial?

A clinical trial is a study designed to test specific interventions or treatments' effectiveness and safety, paving the way for new, innovative healthcare solutions.

Why should I take part in a clinical trial?

Participating in a clinical trial provides early access to potentially effective treatments and directly contributes to the healthcare advancements that benefit us all.

How long does a clinical trial take place?

The duration of clinical trials varies. Some trials last weeks, some years, depending on the phase and intention of the trial.

Do I get compensated for taking part in clinical trials?

Compensation varies per trial. Some offer payment or reimbursement for time and travel, while others may not.

How safe are clinical trials?

Clinical trials follow strict ethical guidelines and protocols to safeguard participants' health. They are closely monitored and safety reviewed regularly.
