Study Summary: This study is testing a drug called TAK-279 to see if it helps with ulcerative colitis (UC). UC is a condition where the bowel, part of your digestive system, gets inflamed or swollen. In this study, some people will take TAK-279, and some will take a placebo (a pill that looks like the medicine but doesn't have the active ingredient) for 12 weeks. After this, everyone will take TAK-279 for 40 more weeks. The total study lasts about 60 weeks. Participants will need to visit the study clinic several times to check their health and see how the medicine is working.

  • Duration: Up to 60 weeks, including clinic visits.
  • Treatment: TAK-279 and placebo capsules.
  • Participation: Open to adults aged 18-75 with moderate to severe UC.

Participants should have had trouble with other UC treatments before joining. Some people can't join, like those with certain other bowel problems or surgeries. This study helps researchers understand if TAK-279 is safe and effective for treating UC.
