Study on body fat's impact on cystic fibrosis health changes.

Phase N/A

This study looks at how body fat and muscle affect health in people with cystic fibrosis (CF), a lung disease. It includes 60 young people with CF and 30 without. Some with CF will come back for yearly check-ups for two years. The study uses tests like MRI (a picture of the inside of the body) and DEXA (a scan for body fat and muscle) to learn how fat affects health. It also uses an Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT) to see how well the body uses sugar. This can help in planning better nutrition for CF patients.

  • Study lasts for 2 years with annual visits for some participants.
  • No major changes in medications for 21 days before joining.
  • Participants must be able to complete study tests and not be pregnant.
