Study Purpose: This study aims to see if giving the drug cisplatin weekly, along with radiation therapy, is easier for patients with advanced head and neck cancer to handle compared to receiving it every three weeks. Cisplatin is a medicine that helps to kill or slow down cancer cells. Radiation therapy uses high-energy rays to destroy cancer cells. The study will also check if the weekly treatment works just as well in helping patients live longer.
Key Points:
- Study Length: Includes radiation treatments for 7 weeks with weekly or every three weeks cisplatin.
- Visits: Requires regular scans like CT, MRI, or PET during the study.
- Risks: Possible side effects include hearing loss and other toxicities.
Eligibility: To be part of the study, patients must have certain types of head and neck cancer, be at least 18 years old, and meet health requirements like good kidney function and blood counts. They should not have other severe health problems or be pregnant. People with a history of allergy to cisplatin cannot participate.
