This study focuses on how the immune system responds to the cholera vaccine called Vaxchora®. Cholera is a disease that causes severe diarrhea and is spread through dirty water. The study will involve 50 healthy people who will get the Vaxchora vaccine. Of these, 30 will have a small procedure called a biopsy, where a tiny piece of tissue is taken from the small intestine, to see how their body reacts to the vaccine. The goal is to see if their immune system produces antibodies, which are proteins that help fight off diseases.
Key Points:
- The study will require attending multiple visits, including a biopsy procedure for some participants.
- Participants must be in good health and meet specific criteria to join.
- There are risks, such as reactions to the vaccine and biopsy procedure.
Some people cannot join, like those with certain medical conditions or pregnant women. The study is important because it helps us understand how well the vaccine works and how to make better vaccines in the future.
