Phase N/A

This study is testing a new mobile app called "Ready for Tonsillectomy" to help children and their caregivers learn about tonsillectomy surgery. A tonsillectomy is a surgery to remove tonsils, which are small glands at the back of the throat. The app is designed to make the information easy to understand and fun. Researchers want to see if using the app helps children feel less nervous before surgery and if it helps their caregivers feel more confident and satisfied. The study will include children aged 5-13 years, with a focus on ages 7-13, and their caregivers. Participants will be divided into two groups: one using the app and one getting regular information. Caregivers will need to have a smartphone or tablet to use the app. The study will measure things like anxiety, confidence, and satisfaction. Families will be asked to answer questions on the day of the surgery.

  • Duration: Participation is needed for the weeks before and after surgery.
  • Eligibility: Children aged 5-13 years needing tonsillectomy and their caregivers.
  • Requirements: Must have a mobile device and speak English or Spanish.
