This study is designed for people aged 12 and above who have severe asthma that's not well controlled. Asthma is a condition where the airways swell and produce extra mucus, making it hard to breathe. The study tests a new oral medicine called dexpramipexole. Participants will take the medicine or a placebo (a pill with no active drug) for one year. This is a double-blind study, meaning neither the participants nor the researchers know who is taking the real medicine. The study aims to see if dexpramipexole helps manage asthma symptoms safely.
- Study Length: The treatment lasts for 52 weeks, plus a 4-week follow-up period.
- Eligibility: Participants must have a history of asthma, be on certain asthma medications, and meet specific health criteria.
- Compensation: Participants may receive compensation for their time and travel.
Before joining, consider the time commitment and ensure you meet all health criteria. If you have other health conditions or take certain medications, you may not qualify for this study. Always consult your doctor before participating in any clinical trial.
