Study Overview: This study looks at how virtual reality (VR) and functional strength training (FST) can help kids with cerebral palsy (CP) improve arm movement. CP is a condition affecting movement and coordination. Forty children from Atlanta will join the study for 12 weeks. They’ll try either VR or FST for 6 weeks, doing activities for 60 minutes a day, 3 days a week. After 6 weeks, if the treatment helps, they’ll continue with it. If not, they’ll either switch or combine treatments for the next 6 weeks.
Key Points:
- The study runs for 12 weeks with three 60-minute sessions each week.
- Children between 5-17 years with CP can participate.
- Kids will not participate if they've had recent arm surgery or injections, or have severe attention or epilepsy issues.
Researchers believe all kids will see improvements, but those using VR might see more benefits. At the end, both kids and caregivers will share their thoughts on the treatments.
