This study explores how eating more **fiber-rich foods**, like beans, can help overweight people lose weight and reduce the risk of colon cancer. **Fiber** is a part of plant foods that our bodies can't digest, but it helps keep our digestion healthy. When we eat fiber, it turns into helpful substances in our body that fight inflammation and cancer. The study involves a diet high in fiber and legumes (beans) to see if it helps with weight loss and lowers cancer risk.
- Duration: Participants will follow the diet for 12 months.
- Visits: Frequent visits for food pick-up and health checks.
- Eligibility: Adults 40-75 years, overweight, with past colon polyps.
If you join, you will eat meals provided by the study for the first 6 months, then prepare similar meals yourself for the next 6 months. This research aims to help people understand how a high-fiber diet can improve weight and prevent colon cancer. Participants must not have serious health issues, be pregnant, or have had colon cancer before.
