Phase 2

This study is looking at a new medicine called M5049 to see if it helps people with two diseases: dermatomyositis (DM) and polymyositis (PM). These diseases cause muscle weakness and skin problems. The medicine is taken by mouth for 24 weeks.

To join, you must have DM or PM diagnosed within certain guidelines and have active disease symptoms. Active disease means your muscles or skin are still affected despite treatment. You should also be on stable doses of certain medicines.

Key Points:

  • This study lasts for 24 weeks.
  • You may need to continue taking some medicines you already use for DM or PM.
  • You must have certain disease markers to qualify.

Some people cannot join the study, like those with other severe illnesses or specific types of myositis. If you have a history of cancer close to your DM or PM diagnosis, you may also be excluded. The study checks if the new drug is safe and if it works well. Remember, it’s important to discuss with your doctor to see if this study is right for you.
